Manufacturing for U.S. – Canadian Aerospace Corridor

Vermont’s role in establishing the U.S.-Canadian Aerospace Corridor:

In 2013 the Vermont Chamber signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Aéro Montréal, a strategic think tank for Québec’s aerospace cluster, at the 4th edition of Aéro Montréal’s International Aerospace Innovation Forum in Montréal. The vision and mission of the MOU and partnership are to create a Vermont – Québec Aerospace Trade Corridor and facilitate cross-border supply chain contacts, new business opportunities, and contracts between the U.S. and Canada.

The $28 billion Canadian aerospace industry is the fifth largest in the world and is home to renowned aerospace OEMs, including Bombardier, Bell Flight, CAE, GE Canada, Héroux-Devtek, and Pratt & Whitney Canada. Vermont, in return, offers Canada access to the state’s $2 billion aerospace manufacturing and civil aviation industry, OEMs, including GE Aerospace and Collins Aerospace, An RTX Business, and a supplier base with proven chain capabilities.

Vermont’s close proximity to Canada is also a competitive gateway with access to the entire North American market and large government contractors in both the U.S. aerospace and defense industries. The global aerospace parts manufacturing market is projected to reach $1.94 trillion by 2031 [Allied Market Research].

The Aerospace Trade Corridor is now extended to Connecticut aerospace, in partnership with Aerospace Components Manufacturers, and expanded to Ontario aerospace and defense in partnership with the Ontario Aerospace Council.

In April of 2023, Vermont and Québec leaders celebrated a decade of collaboration on the trade corridor.
